Can you help us improve? Resolved my issue. Clear instructions. Easy to follow. No jargon. Pictures helped. Didn't match my screen. Incorrect instructions. The corresponding option is enabled in DHCP server's configuration, however it has no effect. I don't see anything in logs, too. I've tried everything - even removing that DHCP server from network.
It's very strange thing. Also, I've checked if it was a hardware problem and it must be something different. I think it's releated to that empty logs. Any ideas? You shouldn't have more than 1 DHCP server on your network otherwise they will conflict. The commented KB fixed this issue.
In terms of DHCP not assigning new leases. It is worth checking your event logs to see if the DHCP server is reporting any warning or errors, you might also find that your scope is full.
Problem is now resolved, it was very simple. I discovered that someone connected a cable from one switch to another switch, this was the problem why adresses weren't leased. If you have a large network, just try it after hours. I appreciate the troubleshooting tips for this issue. I ran the ipconfig command from above on several PC's only to find that they all were poiting correctly to the secondary DC.
I agree these issues seem to point to a rogue DHCP server, but after these tests, I don't believe that is the case. Any further suggestions on this issue? Still scratching my head with this problem. This had been applied months ago for testing and sure enough adding a MAC address to the deny filter blocked the client from obtaining an IP address.
However no MAC's ever needed to be added to the allow filter in order to obtain an IP address, that is until a recent restart of the server kicked it in?! When the lease had expired the server simply said you're not part of the allow list and therefore you can't have an IP! To continue this discussion, please ask a new question.
