YMCA of the Palouse. The YMCA has given me so many different opportunities to meet and greet new people everyday. Do you enjoy working at your company? The YMCA is a great place to work, but don't expect to become rich. The benefits are good and the people are nice. It's a great place to work for a part time job, but the pay is not comparable with other part time jobs. Great place to work, and would like to continue to work there.

Feel like a family, and the pay is really good. Also you get a free gym membership ,and discount on programs. I have gotten the opportunity to get to know my supervisors and coworkers on personal levels.

Being part of a family is one of the main things that I am looking for in a company and that is what the YMCA offered for me. No complaints, it was good place to work. Decent benefits. It pays to work with healthy like-minded individuals in a non-proft business. It was rewarding to serve the community. The treatment of a certain racial group of individuals were treated very unfairly and were fired, even while on Workmans Comp, and others were given write-ups to correct issues that they inherited over a 90 day period.

Even thou said issues were met, they were still fired! I took my case to court and won. NOT recommeded workplace! Pros Working with Kids. Cons Prejudice management. Program Coordinator - Summer Program Coordinator- Creative Theater. I was hired to do one roll but ended up doing something very different.

It was difficult to not have clear direction. The staff gossips a lot about the others and it creates a difficult working environment. Pros Free gym membership. Cons Lack of structure. It's a none profit with a wonderful message to the community but they pay is good awful. Be prepared to be harrassed by members too.

Free membership so I was in shape when j worked there and the people were nice that you worked with. Great job for a college student over the summer The Y is a great place if you don't need money. I love working there because I get to make a difference in lives I work in both the food bank and the youth program , but it certainly does not put food on the table. I suppose that's one of the downfalls of working for a non-profit, though.

It was also a great experience for school, and looks good on my resume. Overall, I would recommend a young friend to the job, if they don't need a lot of money. It can be stressful at times, but is also rewarding. Pros Working with kids. Cons Pay, no full time hours or advancement available. If you are looking to stay in one spot the YMCA perfect for you. Relaxed hours very flexible days and no long shifts.

They are very understanding and they have no problem finding a cover for your shift. Pros Free Membership. Cons No way to move up ladder. It was disappointing when no teens for the program would show up,which was most of the summer. But I really enjoyed teaching when the teens did show up. Too many adults feeding into the youth personal lifestyle drama. Need to have them all grow up and at like professionals at work and not treat the job as a high school. In addition, we are home to LSU and Southern University, which provide for numerous sporting events and activities close to home.
